Keep your eyes on Me in 2023
The writer of Hebrews put it this way, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
As Christians, we look back at the previous year, and we recognize that there were stages in this Christian race that we ran quite well and other stages not so well. Those times we struggled and fell were the result of taking our eyes off of Jesus, and allowing things in our life that hindered our progress.
The good news is the race is not over. God has a specific course mapped out for each of us in 2023. Even if you have been tripped up, knocked down, or sidelined by sin, know you’re not alone, every Christian has fallen. And those of us who have allowed Jesus to pick us up and dust us off, are confidently cheering you on like the writer of Hebrews to get back in the race…to run with endurance, and to keep your eyes on Jesus in this New Year that He has set before us.
