If you've been around our church for any length of time, we hope that you see us endeavoring to live out the loving heart of God in our world. Calvary La Habra didn't happen overnight. We started as a Bible Study on the floor of a surf shop in La Mirada, California.
The Lord started the work by grabbing a surfer's heart and directing him to minister to the hurting youth that surrounded him. After a while, that Bible Study needed more space. Soon, it had grown into a church that reached out, not only to La Habra and the surrounding areas, but to the world. Watch the story unfold in our 25 Years of Ministry celebration video above.
Through the years, we've seen God bless this work in unbelievable ways. We've had the honor of witnessing the Lord change lives, marriages, families, and communities through the justification of Jesus Christ, and the ongoing sanctification process through the power of the Holy Spirit. It's always such a blessing to encounter God in fresh ways, and we think that others should too.
In a dying and hopeless world, God has called us to be His representatives (2 Corinthians 5:20). He set us free from the bondage of sin, given us eternity with Christ as an inheritance, left us with the Holy Spirit, charged us to be rooted and grounded in love (Ephesians 3:14-21), and to give Him glory in our life. As we walk through this life together, it's vital to participate in church in
order to encourage one another (Hebrews10:24-25), to build our faith (Romans 10:17), to exercise the spiritual gifts He has given to us (1 Corinthians 12:7), to direct others around the world to the Savior (Matthew 28:19-20), and to seek His kingdom here on earth (Matthew 6:33). Last year, through the grace of God and the hearts of servants at Calvary La Habra, we were able to pour out God's love throughout the year. Beginning with the Men's Steak & Study, the International Missions Dinner, and Women's Study, the year quickly progressed to our Easter Week. Throughout the year, the Lord has blessed us and the community of La Habra through various children's events (such as VBS), declarations of faith through baptisms, Missions trips, outreaches and movies at the park, a City Appreciation Dinner, disaster relief teams, a Youth Workers Conference, Women's Tea and the Gathering, Men's Huddle, and much more. Towards the end of the year, we celebrated Harvest, hosted a Veteran's Day Concert and Dinner, a Thanksgiving Outreach, a Servants Appreciation Dinner, and an incredible time pausing to reflect on the wonder of Christmas through several special services.
Each year is packed full of opportunities to get involved, invite friends and family, and experience the body of Christ in a fresh and marvelous way. We would encourage you to step out in faith and see what God can do with a willing heart and surrendered life. Our desire is to introduce you to Jesus, disciple you, and equip you to reach others in the position God has uniquely placed you in. Please join us as we work together advancing His kingdom!
